How the Lines Rise: An Intersection of Life and Art
Life imitates Art, Wilde believed and Filippo Brunelleschi took it as quite a challenge. With his rules of perspective, thought to have been cemented in around 1415 CE, Brunelleschi added grace to still portraits, by convincing his admirers that they had almost come alive. Using the 4 principles of the size of forms, their overlap, the convergence of lines and their placement, this Italian architect revolutionised the conception of depth in 2-D art forms. With his rendition of the Baptistery in almost perfect precision, Brunelleschi proved that with mirrors and a little mathematical balance, Art too can imitate Life.
