How to Fight Climate Change with Parking Lots

Parking lots could be the answer to sustainable energy solutions. With over 5% of developed land in the US being covered by parking lots, the potential of installing solar canopies on them is enormous. Despite the higher cost compared to conventional solar farms, there is a huge economic potential, making this a viable long-term solution.

France's new policy requires outdoor car parks to cover at least half the surface area with solar canopies by 2023. This initiative is estimated to add ten nuclear power plants' worth of solar panels, a significant step towards renewable energy and reducing carbon emissions.
