India Witnesses Surge in Space Startups in 2023 with $123.9 Million Investments

In 2023, India experienced significant growth in its space sector, with 54 new space startups emerging during the year. The total number of startups in the sector reached 204, reflecting the dynamic expansion. The Indian Space Association (ISPA) highlighted the impact of the New Space Policy 2023, emphasizing its role in fostering private space industry development. This surge in entrepreneurial activity received substantial financial backing, with Indian space startups securing $123.9 million in funding in 2023 alone. The cumulative funding in the sector reached $380.25 million. The reforms initiated in 2020 opened up the space sector, allowing private entities to engage in various space activities. The ISPA foresees a revolutionary year for the Indian private space industry in 2024, marked by collaborations, launches, and visionary policies.
