Intrusive Thoughts = Moral Character?

Human beings are quite complex as creatures of creation. Humans are considered similar to orange cats sometimes as they are known for their random thoughts, differing personalities, and their instinct to do things that are considered as a deviation from the socially accredited 'normal' behaviours and the norms they believe in. Intrusive thoughts are quite a common concept, but they are more than that. They relate to many things in Psychology like the 'Levels of Consciousness' by Sigmund Freud.

What are Intrusive Thoughts?

Intrusive thoughts are unwanted and unsettling postulations or feelings that seem to pop out of nowhere and are quite concerning at times. They are also referred to as 'Interfering Thought' as they interfere with our normal and ongoing thought process and functioning of the mind. It is necessary to know the importance as they can be quite harmful if one starts to give in and implement them.

Are Intrusive Thoughts the same as Impulsive Thoughts?

The main and common misconception is the fact that impulsive thoughts are the same are intrusive ones. This is an astounding myth. Intrusive ones are unwelcoming, overbearing and distressing whereas impulsive ones are sudden urges that are acted upon without consideration or calculations.

As mentioned above, myths are a huge problem and to an extent unethical as they are untrue. For example, people want to act upon intrusive notions. That is not the reality as people get these cognitions as a warning to protect themselves from the dangerous or harmful things they may act upon.
