Is India's Independence gendered?

Independence day has changed meaning over the course of time. From the struggle against colonialists, it has grown to become a mark of national pride; a day to question progress. And after a woman's brutal rape and murder within confined workspaces, it is gendered. Our societal grassroots hold no accountability for the way it raises men. Evidenced by,

  1. RGkar's president: "what was she doing alone in the seminar hall?"

  2. Assam government college's diabolical advisory for women.

  3. Dupatta shielded chests.

Mourning Moumitha Debnath's death in Kolkata, the internet raises a provoking outlook.

We are restricted. Not independent.
