Making History With ISRO

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) recently made history with its latest launch, using its heaviest rocket to successfully deploy 36 OneWeb satellites [2]. This is no small feat, as it represents more than 70% of OneWeb's planned fleet of 648 Low Earth Orbit satellites [1]. The successful mission, which took place in Sriharikota, involved launching the rocket at midnight and deploying the satellites over a period of 1 hour and 15 minutes [5]. This marks the first time an Indian rocket has launched a payload of about six tonnes and OneWeb's first use of an Indian rocket to launch its satellites for its global network [8]. It's an impressive achievement for ISRO and a giant leap forward for global internet connectivity.
