Reed on Shock ;Umhlanga

There is nothing like Umhlanga .It is the reason young Swazi girls hold August dear than a coin and have sleepless nights anticipating the cultural ceremony whereby they meet to laugh ,dance and make positive change to the environment .During this seven day experience thousands of maidens hail the Royal Residences and walk for at least two kilometres in search for reed to present to their majesties .The reed is an eco-friendly way the Swazi community fences their traditional houses ,it is dear because it symbolises purity of the girls and conservation of the water sources known as wetlands . A Swazi myth goes ,if the reed wilts or goes on shock on the girl's hands then she is no longer a virgin . Can plants have that power to discern truths otherwise unknown ?
