Reimagining Education: Nurturing Youths Beyond That 3-Hour Question Paper

In the world of unhealthy competition, where most students have merely two choices before them- “Engineering or Medicine?” and with the rise in suicide rates among youths, the most equivocal question that arises is, “Are we going in the right direction? Are our youths safe?”

The place that was presumed to help the students feel safe is no longer doing that, in fact, it’s feeding the most unhealthy competition in their minds.

How to empower youth beyond the exam paper?

With vague answers to questions like, “What do they want to do? What do they want from their life?”, how are they supposed to answer the 3-hour question paper that decides their fates !!?

Why make everything depend on that single piece of paper?

Instead, let’s teach them the value of life which is essential for their professional as well as personal growth. Let’s ask them about their passions buried under those stacks of books and make them aware that emotional intelligence is also essential.

Keeping in mind that making them feel burdened with our desires could hinder their own personal development and independence, I think we should allow them to live freely and grant them the opportunity to explore their path and make their own choices.

With the question “Why do they feel like their identity is like that mirror covered in dust? where the truth of who they are and what they are is obscured!”

Let’s cultivate a safe place for expression and inquiry!
