Rods from God: A Revolution of Future Weaponry

In this century, where competition is more essential than growth, where countries compete for power than for the betterment of humanity. Conflicts are invincible no matter the situation. With the growing youth of the nations, there is no shortage of innovative ideas whether they aim to help the world or make potential ballistic weapons. 'Rods from God,' a probable future armament in which bundles of telephone-sized tungsten rods would be dropped from an altitude of 1200 miles, reaching ten times the speed of sound. Upon hitting Earth, its explosion would be on par with a nuclear bomb but with no aftereffects.

It’s a game changing concept of future weaponry, with the tungsten rods being capable of penetrating even underground bunkers. This idea was first thought of by Jerry Pournelle, a space weapons expert while working for Boeing in the 1950s. Ironically he became a science fiction writer later on.
