Why Shouldn't We Explore the Ocean?

While many of us associate the ocean with inner calm, some view it as a perilous place that should not be explored. This perspective is influenced by several factors, including the lack of visibility, extreme cold temperatures, and immense pressure at great depths in the ocean. When diving or using underwater vehicles, the air pressure exerted on the body increases significantly compared to sea level. Additionally, the presence of mysterious creatures in the deep ocean raises concerns about potential dangers to mankind.

Additional Information

According to Dr. Gene Carl Feldman, an oceanographer at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, exploring the ocean is often more challenging than sending people to space due to the intense pressures experienced in the deep ocean.

Moreover, there are unique habitats in the ocean, such as deep-sea coral reefs, which are still growing in the Mediterranean Sea. These habitats, like a seamount discovered near Morocco, may remain unexplored. However, human exploration could potentially endanger these habitats. Conversely, the presence of these habitats itself may pose dangers to humans. This suggests that it might be better to refrain from engaging in activities that we cannot adequately handle.
